About Us

Welcome! Stockport Photographic Society is composed of (mostly amateur) photographers with different interests and levels of experience. Although the club was founded in 1890, we're most definitely grounded in the 21st century!

Our meetings programme includes a mix of presentations, workshops, image surgeries, photoshoots, and competitions (between members, and against other clubs). There's also time to socialise over a cuppa (and later, in the pub).

We meet on Tuesdays at 7.30pm — apart from our summer recess in July and August.

When we're not on a photoshoot, we meet at:

The Meeting Rooms, near St George's Church (off the A6 Buxton Road), Heaviley, Stockport SK2 6NX

During the Covid 19 pandemic we continue to meet via the 'Zoom' online platform.

New members are welcome, however (in-)experienced in photography. Ages range from teenage (under-18s accompanied by a guardian) to retirees, men and women. A fancy camera is not a requirement — we use anything that takes photos.

Anyone interested in joining us is welcome to just come along to see what happens, or contact us if you prefer.

The Meeting Rooms are on a private road, off the A6 Buxton Road, south of Stockport centre. Just look for the huge church spire.
