L&CPU Annual Print and Projected Image Competition 2011 PDF Print E-mail

This annual competition is soon upon us, we did reasonably well last year so please make every effort to contribute this year too - maybe we'll have even greater success.  And if you didn't enter last year, please consider doing so.

Key Dates

ASAP    Declare in email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it which sections you intend to enter.  At this point you need not have decided on the actual image or how many - just which sections you will enter.

19/4/2011    Hand-in.  Bring, or arrange to have brought, your entries to the usual Tuesday meeting at St George's Church rooms.  There is a drop-box folder for the digital entries.

Important Rules

Please take the time to read and understand the full rules and guidelines of the competition at http://www.lcpu.org/docs/2010/2011_Annual_Rules.pdf.  However, in order to

a) Make my task between our hand-in on the 19th and the L&CPU deadline of the 29th achievable, and b) Maximise our clubs scoring potential, here are some key points:

All entries must be through the club - this year's caretaker co-ordinator being Ove Alexander.

There is no limit on the number of photographers who represent any one club.  Each photographer may submit a maximum of 6 prints and 6 projected images, subject to there being no more than 2 entries in any one section.  The Sections are:

  • Section 1 - Monochrome Prints
  • Section 2 - General Colour Prints
  • Section 3 - Nature Prints
  • Section 4 - Monochrome Projected Image
  • Section 5 - General Projected Image
  • Section 6 - Nature Projected Image

To even qualify for a club score we need a minimum entry of at least four different photographers in at least one of the sections.  However, the total club score is calculated by adding the 4 highest marked entries from 4 different workers in each category - in other words to do well we need at least 4 different people's images in each section (hence the ask for an early declaration of your intent in case we need to fill some gaps).

Print mounting size: 50cmx40cm NOT 20"x16" as they are too big and would be rejected by the L&CPU.  No tape on the back of the mount.  The print must be labelled on the back using a template to be supplied by the L&CPU, placed as near as possible to the top right hand corner of the mount.  I will circulate the template as soon as I receive it.

DPI file size must be 1400x1050 pixels, jpeg in sRGB colour space.  Each image file must be named in the following nomenclature:

Club Code (we are S13) Section Number (1 through 6) Entry Number (enter "xx", I will need to complete this) underscore Title underscore Author's Name.  Make sure you use underscore, not semi-colon, and the TITLE ONLY must be no more than 20 characters.  For example if I were to enter a photo of a crocodile in the Nature Projected Image Section the file name should be S136xx_Crocodile_Ove Alexander.jpg.

An image may only be entered in one section and images previously submitted to the L&CPU Annuals are not eligable.

So go on, raid your files and folders and submit as many as you can, thereby making sure that Stockport Photographic Society is well represented.

Many Thanks

Ove Alexander
