Forthcoming RPS Regional Events
Most of our events take place at the Hough End Centre, Mauldeth Road West, Charlton cum Hardy, Manchester, M21 7SX. Where lunches can be purchased at very reasonable rates, there is also a bar available at lunch time. Events will be notified in Members' Matters but further details and the latest information on all events will he available on the RPS website
Sunday 14th February 2010 North West Region AGM Event with 2 speakers
At Hough End. Registration and coffee 10.30 Event begins at 11.00 am
Ian Cartwright BA Hons, FBIPP, M*QEP, LMPA. Professional Photographer Ian from Cheadle Hulme conceived, art directed, and photographed Bramhall's very own Calendar Girls calendar to raise funds for St Ann's Hospice over the summer, with 51 volunteer models, on location in shops, salons and cafes in Bramhall. Ian gave his time for free, and will be telling us what was involved, showing all of the photographs used in the calendar. Calendars will he on sale at a discounted rate.
Changing Perspectives Kathryn J Scorah DPAGB ABPE Kathryn started photography just over a decade ago. She has always had a passion for wild places and began with landscape photography. She soon realised that to be successful she needed to do other things. Now she photographs just about anything. This talk is a miscellany of images ranging from soft dreamy landscapes to sport and people pictures, many of which have won awards in the international arena. Nothing in her photography is as it seems! She is particularly proud to be a member of Wigan 10.
Sunday 7th March 2010 Chris Steele-Perkins - Magnum Photographer

Chris Steele-Perkins moved from Rangoon to London with his family in 1949. He graduated with Honours in Psychology from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1970 while working as a photographer and picture editor for the student newspaper. In 1971 he moved to London and started working as a freelance photographer and started his foreign work in 1973 in Bangladesh followed by work for relief organisations and travel assignments. In 1975 he worked with EXIT a group dealing with social problems in British cities. He then joined the Paris based Viva agency in 1976. In 1979 his first book The Teds was published. Chris joined Magnum and soon began working extensively in the Third World. His latest large scale project is on the situation in Afghanistan, and he also works extensively in Japan. His reportages have received high public acclaim and won him several awards.

Sunday 23rd May 2010 Victorian Portrait Extravaganza
At Bramhall Hall, Bramhall, Stockport. Registration froms` 9.30 Event begins at 10.00 am
An opportunity to photograph models, some in Victorian Costume in a historic house setting and grounds. There will be 3 or 4 indoor studios available from 10am until 1 pm and then, if tile weather is suitable, good opportunities use the gardens to photograph outdoor portraits.
The event will be led by Alan Angel FRPS. The numbers will he limited to 40 and will be by ticket only.
